Enrichment Program Offers TIPS Alcohol Training

March 20, 2008 (Laramie, WY)
—The University of Wyoming Community Enrichment Program will offer TIPS: Alcohol Server Training Saturday, March 29 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. in the UW Union Senate Chambers.

TIPS is a certified program that works to enhance participants’ “people skills” to help servers, sellers, and consumers of alcohol prevent intoxication, drunk driving, and underage drinking.  Upon successful completion of the training, participants can take an exam to become TIPS certified for three years.  Having TIPS certified employees helps Laramie liquor establishments to be in compliance with municipal code.

“The training is non-judgmental, interactive, and presented in a relaxed format” says Lena Edmunds, AWARE (Alcohol Wellness Alternatives, Research, & Education) program coordinator and TIPS certified trainer.

The training costs $15 and pre-registration is required.  To register for TIPS, call UW Community Enrichment Program registration at (307) 766-6802 or register online at: http://outreach.uwyo.edu/enrichment/ .
