Teton Science School to Study Ecophilosophy


LARAMIE, WY (April 8, 2008)—The Teton Science School in Jackson, WY has openings for its nine-day course Ecophilosophy and the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.  The course will run August 12 – 17, 2008.

Students will work and live at the Teton Science School’s 900-acre campus in Jackson while participating in ecophilosphical discussions, lectures, group projects, and guest lectures.  This weeklong adventure is all-inclusive for $1000.  It may be taken for credit under the UW course catalog listing Philosophy 3000 and is also open for noncredit to anyone interested.

The course will explore the philosophical issues inherent in the wildlife and conservation controversies of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.  These issues in clued: wildlife habitat surrounding elk and bison, bears, pronghorn or sage grouse; human sustainability questions around energy development and other resource use; and new wilderness designation.
