UW Enrichment Classes Winding Down for the Summer

August 4, 2006 (Laramie, WY) --
As the summer come to an end, the Community Enrichment Programs still have a few classes to the Laramie Community busy.

Photo enthusiasts that want to learn how to take better portrait pictures have the opportunity to join instructor Kami Shober as she takes participants through a course on Portraiture Photography.  The course, which will be held on Tuesday, August 15, will explore the basic poses for outdoor photography and teach the techniques to eliminate problem areas.  This is the last course in a series of photography classes offered this summer.

Additionally, “Cattail” Bob Seebeck’s Plant Tour is running on Saturday, August 12 starting at 10:00 am.  “Cattail” Bob has been teaching since 1975 and is the author of the book “Best-Tasting Wild Plants of Colorado and the Rockies.”  This class will take participants into the mountains to identify and sample dozens of the best-tasting wild plants in the Rockies.  Medical and poisonous herbs will also be covered.  Cattail Bob will emphasize the importance of field identification, eco harvesting and taste sampling.  Some of the plants that will be covered include wild onion, amaranth, mint, mustard, tomatillo, catnip, chokeberry, currant, death camas and poison hemlock.

Finally, for those who are ready to go hunting this fall, but don’t have their hunter’s safety card yet still have the opportunity with the Hunter’s Safety Education course on August 25 and 26 to get fully prepared for those fall hunts.  This course will provided important information about Wyoming games laws, game identification, hunting ethics and conservation, outdoor survival skills, basic first aid, game care and weapons safety and handling.  Course is required for all hunters born after 1966 or those planning to hunt in certain areas of Wyoming and recommended for people ages 12 and older.
