Wal-Mart Contributes to Children’s Scholarship Program

August 30, 2006 --
UW Community Service Education is proud to announce that Wal-Mart has donated an additional $500 to the Children’s Scholarship Program for UW Community Enrichment classes.  Wal-Mart has been a pacesetter for this program and is one of the inaugural sponsors.  Through their generous support, Laramie children are given the opportunity to participate in classes and activities that otherwise may not be available.

The scholarship program is available to families who need a little help in taking advantage of the learning opportunities that UW Community Enrichment has to offer.  Each semester, UW Community Enrichment offers 10 scholarships worth $25 each.  These need-based scholarships are available on a first come, first serve basis.

Since its inception in the Summer of 2004, UW Community Enrichment Programs has awarded close to 50 scholarships to students who have enrolled in such classes as crafts for kids, preschool swim, junior naturalist, karate, ballet, cheerleading and creative dance.  The scholarship program helps children by giving them the chance to enrich their lives with activities outside the classroom.
