UW Community Enrichment Programs Hosts Trip to Heart Mountain Ranch

May 10, 2006 --
UW Community Enrichment Programs has teamed up with the Wyoming Chapter of the Nature Conservancy to offer a trip to Heart Mountain Ranch.  The expedition will take place Friday, June 16starting at 8:00 am.

Heart Mountain is an erosional island that provides key evidence for interpretation of the geological and biological history of northern Wyoming. Dennis Knight and Jason Lillegraven will be guiding the one-day trip to the majestic mountain located north of Cody and southwest of Powell in the Bighorn Basin.

The trip will include minor hiking and will emphasize both the current plants and animals of Heart Mountain and the paleotological history of this world-famous “sky island.”  This outing is intended people of all educational backgrounds.

There is a $30 fee for each participant.  Transportation will not be provided to the Cody/Powell area, but will be available to get to the mountain.  Participants will meet at the turnoff to WWII Japanese Internment Center on Highway 14A.   The registration deadline is June 9,2006.
