April 29, 2008 (Laramie, WY)—It’s still not too late for school teachers and interested community members to register for a Fort Laramie Excursion offered through the University of Wyoming Center for Conferences and Continuing Education.
The Excursion, which is approved for .5 PTSB credits, will take place Saturday, May 3, 2008, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Please bring a sack lunch. Transportation is provided – meet at the UW Beta House parking lot.
Participants will learn about one of the most important western forts during the Indian Wars. In addition, the group will explore the historical sites of Grattan Massacre, Register Cliff, and the Oregon Trail Ruts in Guernsey, WY.
Instructors Walt Reuland and Jennie Lawrence have been giving historical presentations for many years. First Sgt. Reuland has published a book on the ammunition of the period. Miss Jennie has written articles about women during this time period and is working on a book about Fort Laramie.
