February 20, 2006 -- Over the past year UW Community Service Education, with the assistance of the Albany County Tourism Board and Laramie County Community College – Albany Campus, have been marketing a program to international tour operators. “Culture and Conversation” is designed to engage participants to learn and work with English as a second language while showcasing the University and the cultural and history of the state. Along with ESL instruction, many activities are included that explore local attractions and cultural events. Participants will have the opportunity to explore UW museums, attend UW Fine Arts presentations, visit Saratoga and the Terry Bison Ranch, and enjoy outdoor recreation. Tours can be customized to meet specific group needs, such as a focus on environment, ecology, agriculture, and social customs. A second week can be added to the program that includes trips to South Dakota and Jackson, and ends in Salt Lake City. At present we are working with a Japanese group that may be joining us this summer. For more specific information, visit http://outreach.uwyo.edu/conferences/culture/info.htm.
