May 8, 2006 -- UW Outreach School, Division of Community Service Education is excited to announce the arrival of the Summer 2006 Community Enrichment Catalogs.
“It’s a great feeling taking the catalog to the post office and realizing that all those months of hard work have finally paid off. The community has the opportunity to see what new classes or old favorites are being offered for them,” said Amy Gronke, Project Coordinator for CSE. “We’re particularly interested in how the community will respond to the new classes we offer.”
Some of the popular classes from the past years that are making a comeback include Hydrobics, Golf, Kendo, Spanish, Sign Language, Waterbabies and First Aid/CPR.
This summer, we are also introducing for the first time two specialized areas for classes. For those that are new to the community or just haven’t had the time to explore some of the interesting things about Laramie, we are offering the Saturday Roundabouts. These 3-hour Saturday morning trips are for people interested in learning a little more about what makes Laramie such a great place. Topics will include Vedauwoo, the Ivinson Mansion, the University of Wyoming, Greenhill Cemetery, Laramie Homes and the Union Pacific Train Depot and Downtown Laramie. These sessions run $15 each or $75 for the whole series of six.
For those interested in Laramie and Albany County history, we are offering classes during the Western Outlaw Festival, that runs from June 10 - 17. We are offering classes ranging from the Frontier Army to the Outlaws of Laramie to the Fashion that was popular in the 1800s. Classes range in price from $10 - $30.
If you are interested in signing up for any of these classes or if you didn’t receive a catalog in the mail, call the Community Enrichment Office at 766-6802 or you can go online to register or check out our selection of classes at http://outreach.uwyo.edu/enrichment.
