Brekken Attends Continuing Education Conference in Sarasota, FL

March 31, 2006 --
Pam Brekken, UW Community Service Education Marketing Coordinator, recently attended the 2006 UCEA Marketing Seminar to sharpen her professional skills.  Founded in 1915, the University Continuing Education Association (formerly the National University Continuing Education Association) is among the oldest college and university associations in the United States. As the principal US organization for continuing higher education, the Association assists institutions of higher learning and affiliated nonprofit organizations to increase access through a wide array of educational programs and services. UCEA also provides national leadership in support of policies that advance workforce and professional development.

At the conference Brekken networked with over 200 professionals from public and private accredited colleges and universities, as well as nonprofit organizations.

Educational sessions were held on enhancing the ability of higher education institutions to provide high quality, continuing education programs by promoting standards of good practice in continuing higher education; how to tie marketing campaigns into strategic planning; recognizing emerging trends and how to capitalize on the new markets created by these trends; and how to utilize small marketing budgets to produce the highest ROI possible.

Brekken was nominated to serve on the planning committee for future UCEA Marketing Seminars.  Members are appointed from around the country to serve a three year term and are selected based on their past marketing experience, planning abilities and knowledge of the continuing education arena.
