Streaming Media

WHAT IS STREAMING MEDIA?

Streaming media is a method of class delivery used to deliver to your computer via the internet. Audio and video are sent to your computer for viewing of class materials. In order to view these files, you must be connected to the internet via a high-speed connection, such as DSL or cable modem. A 28K or 56K modem connection will not provide an adequate connection speed.

In addition, you must install a player in order to view your materials. University Outreach is delivering via (
Windows Media 9). Click on this link to download the latest player onto your computer.

A higher speed allows a clearer picture and better viewing experience. However, factors such as network congestion may interrupt your stream and require your player to rebuffer and pause while you are viewing. If you experience continual rebuffering, try a lower connection speed.

Try testing your connection: Sample streams at different speeds.
