
THE EDELWEISS FUND
In the spring 2010 semester, the University of Wyoming Outreach School will award a new scholarship to help pay an Outreach School student’s living expenses while he or she pursues a college education.
The Edelweiss Fund, created by an anonymous gift in fall 2008, aims to ease the financial burden of attending school for a select student for the duration of his or her degree program, up to six years. This includes expenses such as rent, utilities, and childcare.
To be eligible, students must:
- be a part- or full-time students enrolled in at least three credit hours through the University of Wyoming Outreach School
- be pursuing a University of Wyoming degree delivered through the Outreach School;
- be eligible for federal student financial aid through the University of Wyoming (must have filed a FAFSA for 2009-2010 prior to the application deadline; and
- have demonstrated promise of academic excellence.
The deadline to apply for the scholarship is Nov. 30, 2009.

UW LICENSE PLATE SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE
Scholarships, funded by revenues from UW license plate sales, are available to undergraduates that fall into the categories of outreach students, non-traditional students, or fifth- or sixth-year students. Funding for additional scholarships will be available next fall.

Helen L.
Hasbrouck Scholarship
Helen L. Hasbrouck endowed this scholarship program as an expression of her
gratitude for the financial assistance she received from UW in the 1930s.
She was born in Sheridan and taught school there for a year. In 1942, she
enlisted in the U.S. Navy Waves. After World War II, she resigned from the
military and served as a civilian federal employee in Guam, Austria, and
Germany before ending her career in Washington, D.C.
This scholarship program is available to students who have a minimum 2.5 cumulative grade point average at the time of application and have a financial need of at least $3,000 as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Recipients of this scholarship must be enrolled as full-time students.
To apply for the Helen L. Hasbrouck Scholarship, students must file Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) with UW as a recipient of the results, and be admitted to a UW degree program.

SUMMER SESSION
OUTREACH DEGREE SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship program is available to help both undergraduate and
graduate students who have been admitted to the University of Wyoming and
are actively pursuing outreach degrees. Scholarships are available
to qualified applicants wishing to take summer courses. Awards are based on demonstrated financial need and scholarship. To
qualify for these awards, students must be admitted to UW for the completion
of off-campus degree programs and be making progress toward their degrees.
Applicants must also have a 3.0 GPA in prior UW courses.
Outreach degree-seeking students interested in applying for the scholarship are encouraged to write and request an application.
