About the Program
The University of Wyoming College of Business and Outreach Credit Programs offer a real estate certificate through Online UW. This program has the endorsement of the Wyoming Real Estate Commission and the Wyoming Certified Real Estate Appraiser Board.

The Real Estate Certificate Program consists of six three-credit hour classes (four in real estate and two in finance). The real estate program classes are:

  • BADM 3000 – Real Estate Law
  • FIN 3250 – Managerial Finance
  • FIN 4610 – Real Estate and Urban Economics
  • FIN 4800 – Real Estate Finance
  • FIN 4810 – Real Estate Appraisal
  • FIN 4520 – Financial Markets and Institutions

This certificate does not require previous training in real estate and is designed for both the student and the professional. These courses are offered so that the program can be completed in one year.

The real estate certificate can be obtained as part of a degree program or as a stand-alone course of study. While sections of these classes are available on online, five (5) are also offered on campus. The Internet option allows the student to complete these courses from anywhere. Even though there is an online technical fee, regardless of where you live, you will be assessed the residential tuition/fee rate.

If you wish to pursue a career in real estate, this program may be ideal for you. One of the requirements of a candidate for the Wyoming Real Estate Broker's License is to work as a salesperson for two years. However, this requirement is waived if you have a business degree (either two or four years) from an accredited institution in conjunction with our real estate certificate. Completion of our program does not eliminate other educational requirements for the broker's license. In addition, the Real Estate Commission and the Appraiser Board allow the real estate classes to meet different pre- and post-certification requirements. These courses may also meet other states' licensing requirements. Contact your state office that handles such licenses to inquire as to whether the certification or individual courses apply.
