About the Program
The University of Wyoming and the Wyoming community colleges share a
commitment to preparing the best teachers for the students in Wyoming
schools. The bachelor of arts elementary education pilot program is focused on two critical
needs—the preparation of elementary education teachers and educational
access for site-bound students.
Our vision is for Wyoming’s public institutions of higher education to partner effectively to meet Wyoming’s needs for elementary teachers. Bringing students together for such a program is feasible only if a common starting point can be determined, with a common schedule for all students in the program. As a result, this program will operate as a cohort, meaning students will be required to take all of the courses as a group according to the program schedule. All students must also be prepared to complete the remaining program requirements prior to the start of the cohort.
This pilot program is a partnership between the University of Wyoming and the Wyoming community colleges.
It is a new offering to deliver the final two years of the Elementary Education degree program for statewide delivery over a three–year period to provide flexibility for non-traditional students who may have family or employment responsibilities in addition to their academic work.
A fall 2008 start date is planned, with program completion in Spring 2011.
The UW College of Education and UW Outreach Credit Programs are committed to excellence in education at all levels. We strive to meet that commitment through developing competent and democratic professionals.
