Rebecca Sissman - Celebrating Girls

Rebecca Sissman is an entrepreneur, writer, and artist long interested in women’s well being.  Rebecca graduated from UW in 2002 with a degree in Women’s Studies.  She promptly began developing her business, Dancing Woman Ventures, as a vehicle to expand the power of women--by helping women recognize the power of a collective voice, to feel pride in being women, and to experience the freedom of personal expression.  Most especially, Rebecca’s interest in exploring and understanding the history of gendered roles and their affect on women’s lives is contributing to the expansion of global awareness of alternative views for life on this planet.

Rebecca taught Female Sexuality:  Myths, History and Reality through Community Enrichment Fall semester, 2005; is a board member of Advocates for Adolescent Health Coalition; and offers Coming-of-Age workshops for mother/daughter pairs.
