Financial Aid & Scholarships

financial Aid
In general, the same financial aid is available to students seeking university degrees through the UW Outreach School and students seeking degrees at UW's Laramie campus. State appropriated scholarships such as the UW President's Honor Scholarships and county commissioners' scholarships may be used for outreach courses by eligible students, for example. Federal Pell Grants, Federal Supplemental Grants, Federal Work-Study, Federal Perkins and Stafford Loans, and Richardson Scholarships may be used by eligible students who meet federal and/or local requirements, as may most scholarships. For a complete list of student financial aid and scholarship opportunities at UW, please contact the Office of Student Financial Aid.

Outreach Credit Programs have integrated the accounting of tuition and fees into the UW's Student Information System. Therefore, students' tuition and fee charges will automatically be deducted from student financial aid awards and the balances of funds, if any, will be sent to students in the form of checks.

Note: a student enrolled simultaneously at UW and a community college must be enrolled for at least one credit at UW in order to receive financial aid from the University of Wyoming.

Free Application for Federal Student Aid
Download the software to file the FAFSA on the Web. The Renewal FAFSA may also be completed this way. You can also get the FAFSA from your current college or university or from UW. Visit www.fafsa.ed.gov for more information.

Scholarships
Scholarships are considered a form of financial aid. Therefore, students expecting scholarships may follow the procedure described under "Financial Aid Recipients" to defer payment until the scholarship disbursement arrives. Note: You must first apply to Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to be eligible for any need based scholarships

The University of Wyoming Outreach School is pleased to announce two scholarship programs available for degree-seeking students in the Division of Outreach Credit Programs and the UW/CC Center: the Helen L. Hasbrouck Scholarship and the Summer Session Extended Degree Scholarship. These scholarships are made possible by a cooperative effort of the University of Wyoming Summer Session, the UW Office of Student Financial Aid, the Outreach School, and private donations.
