• A Message From The Director •

Dear 2008 UW Summer Music Camp Musicians and Parents,

Music Camp is coming up quickly, and we are very much looking forward to having you all on campus in June. We have a large and superb staff this year and are expecting to enroll even more campers than last year!

This letter should give you all of the information you need to prepare for your arrival at the University on June 8th.  Please read it carefully and be sure to call if you have any questions.

***OPENING DAY: SUNDAY, JUNE 8th***

Camp officially begins on Sunday, June 8 with registration for everyone beginning at 1:00 p.m.  Registration will take place in the lobby of the Fine Arts Building.  The enclosed maps should guide you to the proper locations to park, unload, register, etc.

Everyone will be auditioning on Sunday afternoon for chair and ensemble placement.  In addition, those students wishing to be in Advanced Piano Camp, Piano Ensemble or a Guitar Ensemble will also audition during this time.  All students should bring a piece of music to play or sing for the auditions.  (We may also ask you to play a scale or to sight-read).

Enclosed you will find a detailed description of the UW Summer Music Camp Elective Classes and Large Ensembles available to all campers.  Please consider which elective classes and Large Ensembles you would like to participate in, and be sure to read this information carefully.  During Camp Orientation on Sunday evening all students will sign-up for their Large Ensembles and elective classes.

You will also be checked in to the dorms during the registration time. (All resident campers will live in Downey Hall).

Dinner will be held in the Washakie Cafeteria beginning at 5:30 p.m. on the registration day.  We will host our Camp Orientation Meeting and Class Sign-up at 7:00 p.m. in the concert hall of the Fine Arts Building, followed by dormitory floor meetings/introductions for all resident campers, as well as an introductory meeting for all commuter campers in the Fine Arts concert hall.

***COMMUTER CAMPERS***
