Elizabeth Birch, one of the most recognized leaders of the gay and lesbian civil rights movement, served as executive director of the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) for nearly a decade. With passion and an engaging style, she shares her incredible experiences as a civil rights activist, encouraging audiences to embrace differences and better understand the lives of others. For her incredible civil rights work, Birch has been awarded one of the highest civil rights honors in the country from the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights.

Prior to joining HRC, Birch was the worldwide director of litigation for Apple Computer, Inc. and general counsel to Claris Corp., Apple’s software subsidiary, and has important experience working with corporate America. She brings her civil rights perspective to organizations and businesses, showing the best ways to develop and implement non-discrimination and domestic partner benefits policies.
