Welcome to Laramie, Wyoming's Gem City! We are honored to bring you the 66th Annual Plains Anthropological. We hope you all have a good time, see lots of people, and maybe even attend a paper or two.
Conference Headquarters
The Laramie Hilton Garden Inn and University of Wyoming Conference Center is conveniently located just two hours from Denver Colorado and 30 minutes from the Snowy Mountains. Offering access to Vedauwoo Recreational Park, the Snowy Mountains and is just across the street from the University of Wyoming War Memorial Stadium and The Arena for sporting events. This brand new facility will play host to the 66th Annual Anthropological Conference. This luxury hotel offers the finest accommodations. Just minutes from Jacoby Golf Course it provides a relaxing respite from the daily pace. It’s beautiful ballrooms and conference rooms will make this an extraordinary conference. All events except the tours and the Thursday reception in the NEW University of Wyoming Anthropology Building will be held in the University of Wyoming Conference Center and Hilton Garden Inn.

Call for symposia, papers, and poster sessions
Those wishing to organize a symposium are expected to submit abstracts for their session (Symposium abstract form) and all abstracts of participants in the symposium together as one package by the deadline (see below).
Authors of contributed papers and posters should submit their own abstracts on the Abstract form.
Student paper award authors should submit their own abstracts. Please see PAC web page for further information:

Papers are limited to 20 minutes. Maximum poster presentation size will be 4X8 feet (1.2 x 2.4 meters).
Electronic abstract submissions are preferred. An online abstract form is available for download. Authors can fill them out and attach them in an email to wyoplainsanthro@gmail.com. Further instructions to follow.

Parking
Parking is available free of charge in the Hilton Garden Inn and Conference Center.
Registration:
Onsite registration will begin in the lobby of the conference center on Wednesday, October 1 prior to the Early Bird Party and will continue until Saturday morning.
Message Board
A message board will be located in the Grand Ballroom lobby throughout the conference. Attendees may post messages, job announcements or other information.

Early Bird Party
The Early Bird Party will be held on Wednesday evening, October 1 at the Hilton Garden Inn. Following long tradition and overwhelming membership approval, beer, wine, and food are free while they last.
Business and Board Meetings
Two meetings of the Plains Anthropological Society Board of Directors and the annual business meeting will be scheduled for the meeting.
Thursday Reception
The Department of Anthropology and the Frison Institute is hosting a reception for conference attendees on Thursday, October 2 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM. Hors d'oeuvres, beer, and wine will be available. The exhibits will be open.
Banquet, Address, and Dance
A cash bar will be available on Friday, October 3 followed by the banquet. This year's banquet speaker is Dr. Gustavo Politis. He will be followed by dancing and music by Wyoming's own Jalan Crossland of Tensleep, Wyoming. A self-described hillhippie, Crossland plays energetic, alternative country with plenty of guitar and banjo finger-picking.

Field Trips/Tours
Tours to Lindenmeier and Pine Bluffs are in the planning stages. Buses for pre- and post-conference field trips will depart and return to the Hilton Garden Inn at designated times. Lunches and beverages will be provided. Lindenmeier is one of the largest Folsom site complexes yet discovered, and it has played a crucial role in understanding Paleoindian prehistory. The Windows on the Past Interpretive Center houses part of the Pine Bluffs site, a 6 m deep deposit with 20 cultural layers extending from Early Historic to the Paleoindian period. Other sites in the area and the High Plains Archaeology Museum/Field Lab also will be visited.
